Articles published in Chinese Journal of Polar Research include:
Review (no more than 20 printed pages) surveys representative results and important advances on well-identified topics, with analyses and insightful views on the states of the polar science and highlights on future research directions.
Research Paper (no more than 15 printed pages) presents new and original results and significant
developments in all area of polar science for broad readership.
Letters (no more than 10 printed pages) briefly presents novel and innovative findings related to polar science.
Trends (no more than 15 printed pages) reports a summary of the latest developments in related research.
News (no more than 2 printed pages) briefly reports important scientific news, information, and academic affairs, as well as major international programs or conferences in all areas of polar science.

Reviewing policy
All submissions will be reviewed by referees. The decision of acceptance or rejection of a manuscript is made by the editorial board based on the referees’ reports. The entire review process may take 90 days, and the editorial office will inform the author of the decision as soon as the process is completed. If the editorial board fails to make a decision within 90 days, it is up to the authors to decide whether they would withdraw their article and submit it elsewhere.
Authorship
Authors should guarantee that their submitted manuscript has not been published before and has not been submitted elsewhere for print or electronic publication consideration.
Submission of a manuscript is taken to imply that all the named authors are aware that they are listed as coauthors, and they have agreed on the submitted version of the article. No change in the order of listed authors can be made without an agreement signed by all the authors.
Copyright
A completed form assigning copyright must be returned to the Chinese Journal of Polar Research office when the article is accepted for publication. The Copyright Transfer Statement is available at http://journal.polar.org.cn
Manuscript format
Contributions are required of a concise, focused account of the findings and reliable essential data. They should be well organized and clearly presented, avoiding exhaustive tables and figures. Authors are advised to use internationally agreed nomenclature, express all measurements in SI units, and quote all the relevant references.
Online submission
Title: Titles must be limited to 20 words, and should be concise, indexable, and informative for a broad scientific audience. Authors should avoid using colons, questions, nonstandard abbreviations, etc., in titles.
Author(s): Authorship should be limited to those who have contributed substantially to the work. The order of the authors listed should be agreed by all the coauthors, and all the authors have responsibilities for the published content. An e-mail address of the corresponding author is required.
Author affiliations: The affiliations should be the institutions where the work was done. Complete addresses with post codes are required.
Text: An article should begin with a brief introduction to the problem and the significance of the research. Nomenclature, symbols, and abbreviations should be defined at their initial appearance. All the figures and tables should be numbered in numerical order. The figure titles and table titles must be in Chinese and English.
Materials and method: This part should describe clearly the materials used, the method adopted or developed, the experimental procedure followed, and the results obtained by the authors in their work, so as to allow others to repeat the experiments and to make use of the work published.
Figures and tables: Figures and tables should be numerically numbered, inserted in the text, and cited in order within the text.
References: Reference citation is regarded as an important indicator of the article quality. References should be numerically numbered and cited in order within the text, with the numbers given in square brackets. The authors should carefully check the author names, article title, journal title, year, volume, and issue number of each reference, and create the listing according to the rules for references and citations(GB / T 7714-2015).
Ethical Guidelines to Publication in Chinese Journal of Polar Research
1. Ethical expectations
Editors' responsibilities
(i) To handle submissions in a balanced, objective and fair way, regardless the gender, sexual orientation, religious or political beliefs, ethnic or geographical origin of the authors, so that articles are considered and accepted solely on their academic merit.
(ii) To perform reasonable procedures in the event of complaints of an ethical or conflict nature. To give authors a reasonable opportunity to respond to any complaints. All complaints should be investigated no matter when the original publication was approved. Documentation associated with any such complaints should be retained.
Reviewers' responsibilities
Reviewers are expected to contribute to the decision-making process and assist in improving the quality of the published papers in an objective and timely manner.
(i) The manuscripts that under review must be treated as confidential documents. Reviewers should not retain or copy the manuscript or discuss with others.
(ii) Any relevant publications or overlaps between published papers and the manuscript under consideration should be raised to editors.
(iii) Reviewers should not consider manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest (financial, institutional, competitive or collaborative), or other relationships with any of the authors, companies, or institutions connected to the papers.
Authors' responsibilities
Authors should refrain from misrepresenting research results which could damage the trust in the journal and ultimately the entire scientific endeavor. Maintaining integrity of the research and its presentation can be achieved by following the rules of good scientific practice, which includes but not limited to:
(i) To confirm/assert that the manuscript as submitted is not under consideration or accepted for publication elsewhere.
(ii) To confirm that all the work in the submitted manuscript is original and to acknowledge and cite content reproduced from other sources. To obtain permission to reproduce any content from other sources.
(iii) No data have been fabricated or manipulated (including images) to support your conclusion.
(iv) To maintain accurate records of data associated with their submitted manuscript, and to supply or provide access to these data, on reasonable request.
(v) Authors should ensure that any studies involving human or animal subjects conform to national, local and institutional laws and requirements and confirm that approval has been sought and obtained where appropriate. Authors should obtain express permission from human subjects and respect their privacy.
(vi) Consent to submit has been received from all co-authors before the work is submitted and the corresponding author is responsible for having ensured that this agreement has been reached.
(vii) Authors whose names appear on the submission have contributed sufficiently to the scientific work and therefore share collective responsibility and accountability for the results.
2. Procedures for dealing with unethical behavior
Misconduct and unethical behavior that brought to the attention of the editor and publisher at any time will be dealt with following the general procedures of COPE.
